I didn't love her previous book (Young Jane Young), but Tomorrow completely blew me away. Multi-layered and thought-provoking with both a strong plot and real emotional resonance. (I literally gasped in surprise and worry at a few points.)
I also loved the way Zevin wove multiple themes throughout the book. Familiar concepts and experiences kept resurfacing, but in new and interesting ways. And I found myself delighting in some of the metaphors and self-references as the book went on.
But more than anything else, I completely fell in love with the characters and was so invested in their journeys! I seriously think I'm going to miss Sam and Sadie.
P.S. If anyone else read this book and is interested in discussing it a bit, please start a new thread and I'd be happy to join in.
I picked this up and haven't read it yet. Thank you for posting this-- I was worried that it was a bad impulse buy, but now I am excited to read it.

The “power” (women develop ability to pass electric power through their hands) emerges across the world and turns gender relations upside down. Societies around the world eventually become matriarchal. The power was first used for self defense but eventually to attack, torture, dominate and sometimes murder men and/or women without powers.
Back in our time not too far off from now, a Midwest mayor whose daughter is developing the powers forms training camps for girls to learn how to wield their powers. Women in Moldova form similar camps and a president’s wife steps into take over the country.
Allie discovers how to use her powers to heal and becomes an important religious leader. She has a major showdown with the president’s wife turned insurrectionist.
Won’t say more but it is well written and exploration of gender relations and whether the world would necessarily be a more compassionate and ethical place with women in charge.
