C-Span doesn't report anything and doesn't report facts. What it does is show congressional primary sources without editorilizing. The AP is a private business that aggregates and distributes news. In effect it's an old school crowd sourcing platform. It is only as reliable as the sources it distributes. Might as well just have Snopes do it.
But I agree with your underlying sentiment. It needs to be insulated from politics and integrity is essential. C-span for facts should be the model.
Streaming source information is the very definition of reporting facts.
AP is a non profit that employs many journalists and does in fact report news. AP is the source for most other news outlets. Comparing it to Snopes is ... strange.
AP is better than some, but they could use some fact checking too.

The concept of this board is just wrong. And, the fact that they picked a highly partisan hack to lead it shows it is not a serious group.
