The schools that know sidwell's reputation will care about rigor. The schools that care about their incoming class's GPA won't

Please name some colleges that know sidwell's reputation and care about rigor.

Please name some colleges that care about their incoming class's GPA and don't care rigor.

Why don’t private school parents DEMAND to see the real school profile with grade distributions? That should not be private information people-you are paying for the school and they shouldn’t be allowed to withhold this very important data! The BS they publish on the website is irrelevant! At least Maret gives an average Gpa on their published School Profile.

3.75 is about 25-30 class rank. And 25-30 students for. Sidwell get into Ivy/Stanford/MIT/Chicago/Duke/Hopkins/Top 3 SLACS each year.

Our kids had ~3.75 at Sidwell and are both attending "T20" schools, though not "top Ivy's" - they didn't apply because neither wanted more of the SFS type culture. Nothing wrong with it, they both just wanted something different.

There are too many other factors to be able to assess - EC's, rigor of coursework, etc.

This. Exactly. 3.75 is great and T10 contender depending on your ECs

3.75 will put you in the running at the bottom half of T10

Whoever wrote this is nuts. You think this GPA will make you strong for the bottom of top 10. Getting into Hopkins or Duke with this? How about top 20. Easy admit to Vanderbilt or Notre Dame, WashU. There are 30 kids in your own class with better GPAs, but yet you think you will be 1 of 1700 students from across the county to make it into these schools? Hop over to the College Discussion forum for a dose of reality.

Hm. DS was admitted to Chicago and JHU in the last two years with a slightly higher GPA. Sidwell class of 22.

Did you DS apply EA, ED, or RD to UChicago and JHU?

I think the kid with the 3.92/4.32 weighted who is 11th in the class must be at Gonzaga.
There is really no GPA comparison to Sidwell. The Catholics don't have the GPA deflation that Sidwell, etc. do.

This is a thread about Sidwell. For Sidwell, that's high.

The top schools in the US* are all familiar with Sidwell's grading idiosyncrasies, so their AO's won't be shocked to not see a 4.98W or whatever.

* except UCLA. The UC schools don't give a $h!t and seem to care only about the highest GPA values they can get.

How many students in your child's class?
