In our class, we haven't learned about a few topics. Such as angles. My question is, if we didn't learn about angles, will we get questions related to angles on the MCAP test? If yes, what can I do to prepare for it? MCAP for us is in another 3 weeks, should I practice on Khan Academy or something?

You will not be sent down a grade. There is no impact on you, except to the algebra one, which you have to pass eventually. They want you to do your best because otherwise the school doesn’t know how well kids are doing compared to other kids in the state—that’s it.

I apologize for the bad grammar in this post.

What I was trying to say is that I contacted my principal asking about MCAP. I asked her if failing the test is a bad thing, especially for students in on-grade (me) and then she replied saying, "No, MCAP is important for anyone taking Algebra, GT, Above Grade, etc. But it is good to do your best on the test." I just wanted to know if whatever my principal said was true. I am in on-grade math, which means I do not take algebra yet. So if I were to fail the MCAP test, would I be sent down a grade? I just wanted to double check if what she said was right or wrong. Sorry for my terrible grammar.

Here are a few things about me:

I am a 7th grader attending public school in Maryland, and I take 7th grade, on grade Math.

I have just talked to my principal about MCAP and asked a few questions on the test. One of the questions that I asked was if I were to fail the MCAP, would I be sent down a grade. She answered this saying that no, you wouldn't be sent down a grade unless it it algebra. I just wanted to make sure this is true or not. Thanks

MCAP = Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program

It has a section called "How Students in Maryland Performed."

For Grade 4 level:

Math

Approached Expectations: 79%
Met Expectations: 12%
Exceeded Expectations: 9%

ELA

Approached Expectations: 77%
Met Expectations: 21%
Exceeded Expectations: 2%

Basically nearly 80% of Maryland's current 5th graders do not demonstrate grade level understanding.

That's sad but I'm happy that MCPS is doing so much better. It must be because of how well they handled DL.
