I hope the rest don’t end up positive. Does this mean Ilia Malinin gets to skate?
No, because Vincent already competed in the team event, they aren't allowed to use an alternate for him.
They already published the start order. Once they publish the start order they can’t send an alternate. Plus there the men skate tonight so there is no chance he could get there in time.
REALLY worried for the rest of the US figure skating team
All this covid testing for the sake of testing is just insane. If he doesn't have symptoms and feels well enough to compete he should be able to skate.
I am heartbroken for him and sadly you know he won't be the last athlete who gets screwed by over testing.
I feel terrible for him. It’s a solo event - he should be able to skate alone. Poor guy.
"This absolutely does not define me as an athlete, as a person," Zhou said. "I am more than just another positive COVID test. I am more than just another face in the crowd."
I agree. Let the guy skate and then throw him in that horrific quarantine hotel until his next event. He's waited 4 years for this. I think it's crazy that they're kicking him out for testing positive especially if he feels fine and can compete in his event. And they should be banned from ever hosting the Olympics again from the way they're treating athletes in isolation. Why are we allowing communist countries to host the Olympic games? They shouldn't be allowed.
+1 China is horrible. They got us into this mess to begin with!
Not sure why they were allowed to host to begin with.

Because China has more stringent Covid restrictions than no-lockdowns U.S.
I mean it is China. None of this should be surprising. It’s like trying to pet a Dingo and the getting upset that it bit you. Everyone should have boycotted.

I don’t know. Maybe it’s similar to bowling where strength can make a difference, even if your aim is precise.
