Is this a sign of the AI bubble popping?

And here Russ Vought had his heart set on firing corrupt lazy vile scumbag federal workers and replacing them with AI. Oh well.

CBS

A quarter of Americans now use BNPL loans to pay for groceries, up 14% from last year, according to a recent survey from LendingTree. The personal finance firm also found that more people are using such financing to pay for clothing, technology and housewares.

What's going to happen when they can't make the payments on this financing? Because that will happen.

Trump should be getting ready for “Hoovervilles” instead of a ballroom. Also it will be hard to have Hoovervilles after the SCOTUS ruling.

Fox trying to spin a tumbling economy and consumer pain.

And yet the economy sucks and is getting worse. What does that tell you?

The rich MAGAs who own most of the stocks and who are getting richer while regular Americans suffer should keep rubbing everyone else's nose in it.

Like Nancy Pelosi?

She's out there telling the working poor to suck it up and get a job?

You don't see rank and file democrats supporting members being able to trade stocks. This is part of ethics reforms that should absolutely be passed as soon as possible.

That was happening weekly during the Biden administration and you thought the economy was terrible.

Who here thought the Dow would be hovering around 47,000 during the first year of the Trump Administration? I sure didn’t.

The DOW is a measure of corporate profits, not the health of the economy.

The fact is, the underlying metrics are trending in the wrong direction already and the impact of tariffs are not yet in place.

You avoided my very simple question.

No one's avoiding your question.

Here is the very simple question.

Cue the pitchforks and torches, because that is where we are headed.

What happened in 2008? This is the same thing, just with consumer debt. PayPal (or whatever) assumes the risk on BNPL, and then I'd assume that debt is traded like mortgages were. Perhaps only smaller lenders will go belly up this time, but I wouldn't count on it.

Can you repossess groceries? /s

I assume they will start garnishing paychecks and payments from the government.

That's what happened during stagflation. I remember doing layaway. We couldn't remember what we bought months earlier so my mom would make a game of pulling it out of the bag.

It's not a good sign.
