Confirms what was reported here weeks ago. In addition to dropping the U14s and now charging the families 10k a year for a mediocre school option, DCU continues to be the laughingstock of MLS academies and this won't change anytime soon. It's really pathetic.
did they drop the entire u14 team for just next season or indefinitely?
Indefinitely
DCU literally does ZERO to develop youth soccer talent in the DMV. Not only did they cancel their U14 team (after giving offers!) but they offer ZERO training opportunities for kids in the DMV area; no youth programs like the NYRB RDS programs.
DCU used to offer such programs (all for a fee, so it's not like they were doing it for free) but they cancelled all of that years ago.
Hard to believe that in this area, one of the areas of the country with massive interest in soccer, the MLS club is so poorly managed with respect to youth talent development.
Can you let someone else get a comment in edgewise buddy?
You ain't saying nothing new you haven't said a thousand times since you created the thread
We know you constantly reply to make the thread remain active for your obsession in psychotic fashion
And everyone knows it's you that claimed that DCU cutting the U14s next was a lie. You also said DCU making the parents pay for schooling was absurd and wasn't happening. All posted weeks ago and proven to be true. You must be way in your feelings right now. A kid at DCU and they are charging you five figures for sh#t programming and schooling. Cannot get any worse. Keep defending them and they will keep screwing you. And keep posting. I will be here to respond with real information not deflection and name calling.

Do you work for DCU? The fact that you assume I'm the OP displays the type of ignorance I'd expect from someone at DCU. I'm not the OP just a parent with several children who play soccer in the DMV. Get it through your skull that lots of different people are weighing in on this thread and that lots of people have a poor view of DCU based on what they've (not) brought to the development of youth soccer in the DMV.

Anonymous wrote:Let's stick to the topic of the thread. Is DCU a good academy or not? Everyone knows, it isn't. If you don't you're kidding yourself.

And I feel like it says if you have options and feel comfortable sending your kid away you will skip DC.
I think it says grass looks greener, and to some people, it may actually be a better personal choice.
New England or Austin or DC or Seattle or Charlotte etc
Tomato or Tomato`
Grass doesn't look greener, it really IS greener. I'm going to agree and say some people here gone a bit off the wall, but they do have a strong point. Listen to the analyst's and sports casters when they talk about DCU and their academy. Maybe they're lunatics too?
And of course you're going to DCU if picked up, just know what you're getting into. Especially now if they really are trying to dump school costs on the family. If they come calling, I would try reaching out to other academys at the same time. Get trials.
Can this not be spoken about without the exaggerated opinions?
Why exactly is is greener for everyone elsewhere when elsewhere isn't producing everyone as professionals to top tier leagues?
What tangible are you getting elsewhere towards the path to professional player from all the other academies? Because it doesn't materialize in the real world.
Unless you have data that the major sports agencies don't have that you can share with us
Analysts and sportscaster lol 😆
Is that you?
