It was one of his least worse speeches of the recent past, I have to say. He was really coached on that one, and told in no uncertain terms to stay on topic and not weave!

Not grading on content, of course. It's all exaggerations and lies.

I'm not sure the Financial Times is going to convince MAGA but I'm glad to see this sentiment being shared openly and more often.

I'm going to try to watch it but usually I get bored when he's reading from the teleprompter because he talks so slowly and when he goes off script it can be entertaining but terrifying. It will likely last two hours and I just can't handle that much.

Apparently, his staff have determined that his maximum work day is 5 hours, so they plane accordingly. It's likely that they won't schedule anything else for him that day.

Or any day, really. He just came back from a three-day weekend at Mar-a-lago and the only events on his schedule today are an ambassador credentialing and two things described as "policy meeting," all closed to the press.

Have you noticed the “policy meeting” and “executive time” is now a daily scheduled thing? In fact, there are four on some days. Is this nap time?

He seems to nap through every televised meeting anyway, so not sure he needs special nap time. It's probably just "down time" which he spends watching TV and having his personal assistant show him or read to him positive things that have been written about him in the press and social media.

My father (who had dementia and similar symptoms as Trump) napped most of the day. Literally. There were only a few hours when he was awake.

Please don’t watch it. We’re shooting for “least watched SOTU address ever.”

It would be a good opportunity to read a book.

I can't watch him/listen to him anymore. I just read along on social media as the people who can still stomach it react.

+1
Same. It will just be lie after lie.

He’ll be hitting the usual themes

"the weave"

or something

I have so many questions about the eye surgery thing! Don’t know if it’s more weird if he did pay for her surgery or if his brain is confusing her with someone/something else?

TBH, I don’t think MAGA listens to his speeches either.

+1 Certainly many of them are surprised by some of the things he’s doing after he had brought them up in speech after speech for years.

SOTU will be lit.
Will be tough for Johnson and Vance pretend all is well. Hope the cameras pan the room.

All networks airing it?

Or are they just going to show clips that make him look sane

Of course they'll air it. It's not like they have anything else people would want to watch on a Tuesday night.

That’s a tough time for sundowners! Should be interesting. Bet he is high as a kite.

I bet he's on a number of drugs, a combination designed to stabilize him long enough to last through the SOTU address. I think he'll make it just fine. My demented dad could talk completely coherently for an hour or two, then he'd descend into utter nonsense. This went on for years, sadly.

+1

drug cocktail will keep him up
