Why are you feeding this troll? She just wants to keep the thread alive. Stop posting and let the troll sock puppet itself to oblivion.

I’ve noticed that many Maret families that park at Jelleff have taken their Maret magnets off their cars. Guessing they don’t want to tempt outraged parents and community members.

Yes that’s why Maret is spending a fortune on crisis PR that it could be putting towards educating its students had it made better decisions.

Ha. The ones who want to go to Maret these days have no other options at better schools like Sidwell, the Cathedral Schools and GdS. More likely that Maret’s board members will be shamed:

Maret will keep if list of those who signed the petition and should call out grovelers for special shaming when their kids apply for Maret admissions in a couple of years.

GDS is not hoarding public resources.

+1 GDS will always have the moral high ground for being the first integrated private in the DC area. Meanwhile Maret has been hoarding public resources for a decade (soon to be two decades), plus the whole connection to Jack Evans as parent of a Maret student just gives the whole school a taint of corruption. Every time a Maret team plays on Jelleff now they know that the community is watching them and noticing when they just have 5 lacrosse players on a huge field that could be much more efficiently used by the community if only they would use their huge endowment to buy a field of their own like all other top tier privates do.

A former DC council chairman, Kwame Brown who actually went to jail was very involved with John Eaton Elementary school, including leading its auction. The associated stench didn’t hurt Eaton.

GDS tried to close a public street to add more space to “GDS-Harvard Square” or whatever they planned to call their private town center development. There was no offer to pay for the street closure.

It's not a secret. They won. Called in corrupt chips and one. It's no surprise they don't care.

They may have won the battle for Jelleff for the next generation of kids, but they will lose the war. Because people look at Maret and wonder why such an expensive private school can't manage to have its own field and it will negatively impact their admissions. And parents will be unhappy that their kids will be at a public field where the community around them clearly does not want them there because they want their own kids to have a chance to play there.

Yup. I have a kid at a private preschool and this came up when people were talking about where they are applying for K. Not a good look for Maret.

It is doubtful that Maret will miss your children’s applications

They may miss the children of the 3000+ people who signed the "Keep Jelleff" public" petition and those who read the Washington Post, Deadspin or the Georgetowner and know how Maret pushed through this backroom deal when they should have just rented a field at a market rate or bought a property as other private schools do.
