You haven't answered the question. In what way does a luxury SUV change your practical, everyday life? I get that it's probably a confidence boost to an insecure self esteem that needs to be showered with things to make them feel better, but does a Mercedes SUV really add that much value driving in your daily life, than say, a Honda SUV? I know it's tough to imagine that my questions aren't rooted in "jealousy," because I could easily go out and get one in cash today. I genuinely don't understand the difference as significant.
I'm not sure what part of 'comfort, safety, quality of construction, technological innovation, features you have trouble with understanding.
The Mercedes has more comfort, safety, quality of construction, technological innovation, features than the honda
NP, I am not a car person or a luxury goods person, but i get easily stressed driving. This is obvious to me. A smoother, safer ride. It just feels better and it really does add to the quality of life every day if you drive every day! GPS, heated seats, great sound system, screens in back for the kids, the new car smell. This is somewhere to spend the money IF it will improve your life (only you can decide) and if you can afford it.
I drive 15 miles a day. Since I spend 30 minutes a day in the car, I don't care how much better the Mercedes is than my Honda. Capiche?

How much are you driving that this would even make a regular difference? Oooohhh the seat warmer heats up 25 seconds faster. Totally worth it!![]()

+1 Tired of $200K HHI families bragging about how superior they are to the "one paycheck away from bankruptcy Joneses" with their fancy lifestyle. No the Joneses make $200K a month and think you are a poseur.
Can't find the original post, but there is a big difference between an Honda and a Mercedes. I have no idea why you are bragging about having $1 million in the bank, so do plenty of other people.
I don't think PP was trying to impress anyone by saying (s)he has a million in the bank. Way to totally miss the point lol. The point is PP could buy a Mercedes, but yawn a car is such a boring thing to spend money on. I'm a 30 y/o attorney and can afford whatever car I want, but I honestly don't know anyone under 35 who even cares about luxury cars anymore. I associate expensive cars with boring stuff old rich white boomers like. Nowadays people with money buy close to transit and don't even have to drive all that much.
Also, I think it's funny how in this thread people with 200k incomes are being bashed as poor "poseurs" and in another thread people with 200k HHI are bashed for being upper middle class and told they shouldn't complain about money!

Translation- I believe that the days where college was cheaper were bad, because the playing field was more even, and poor children could attend and have a shot at a career, just like rich children. I believe that poor kids deserve to carry huge student loans or really should not attend college at all, because all poor children are dumb, anyway. It's great to live in a country where educational opportunities are more likely to be affordable to those with money. I don't believe that the country would benefit from as many children having as much education as possible. Meanwhile, the USA continues to become more awash in stupidity and ignorance that could be prevented if more of the populace had some higher learning.
The days of cheap college were good, but now that privilege is being abused
Please explain this statement.
Too many people are going to college now, making a college degree a standard feature of any employee. This makes employees with only a high school diploma seem substandard. This is highly unfair to all parties involved. High school graduates are not able to find jobs that can support a family as they could 40-50 years ago and college graduates now have to work harder than their parents and grandparents to have the same standard of living.
Oh I forgot to add, a resurgence of skilled blue collar industries would do more to help poverty then any reduce of college costs

ummmm... yes... Their messily contribution of 5% in sales tax and 15 people renting a house paying $2000/ year in property taxes doesn't begin to cover their emergency room and free health clinic visits plus educating their 8 children in ESOL classes.... or does it?![]()

Do you have any numbers on how much these clinics and teachers cost? Or are you buying into the mass hysteria of the lecherous brown man?![]()
One broken arm of an illegal immigrant nears $10K. ONE ESOL teacher with benefits averages $60K. Then you have free lunch and instructional assistants, translators etc... To educate ONE illegal immigrant, it costs nearly $15K.
In 2010, the average unlawful immigrant household received around $24,721 in government benefits and services while paying some $10,334 in taxes. This generated an average annual fiscal deficit (benefits received minus taxes paid) of around $14,387 per household. This cost had to be borne by U.S. taxpayers
There are your numbers. Hard to admit illegal immigration puts the burden on working American families, isn't it? Can't claim racism ALL. THE. TIME.
You must think the clinics, the staff, school buildings and teachers are free - after all it's "FREE" money becuase the government pays, right??![]()

I still have no idea what point you are trying to make other than people who receive more benefits than they pay in tax are not worthy of being Americans. Perhaps you should attend some of those ESOL classes and learn how to make a coherent sentence![]()
