I doubt this would have been a "small" settlement. It's a dicey proposition to offer money to a grieving family and risk the chance of insulting or enraging them.

You guys realize Disney probably paid them money already, right?

Isn't it possible that they aren't suing bc Disney gave them a "small" (few hundred thousand rather than few million) settlement in anticipation of a lawsuit and they said -- that's enough, we just want to be done with this and with any involvement with Disney? Not that it makes it better or worse, but I can't imagine it feels good to hear from Disney or to hear from your atty who is talking to Disney daily; they may simply be too exhausted to want to deal with it -- even filing a complaint to up the settlement amount -- and were fine with just saying we'll take the money and be done with it?

I imagine Disney quietly settled with the family and they decided this was enough.

Do you think Disney paid them money without the court case? Sorry if this is an idiotic question. They must have, right? And that's why they didn't sue?

Good for them. A family member lost a child through an accident (total accident on both sides) and sued. It was miserable. They had to keep reliving the lose, not to mention the stories and opinions that came out about them. While they now have a big bank account, theyve said many times it wasn't worth what they went through.

Apparently, it wasn't just guests. Disney employees have been feeding alligators at some locations.

And to the other PP, no July 4th is NOT one of the typical capacity closure days.

4th of July is huge with a special fireworks show. Matter of fact, they also do the fireworks on the 3rd and livestream it on the 4th because of the popularity.

It has been for the few years. It isn't as bad as Christmas, but it's always pretty close.

Ok that was it. That was Disney's momentary drop in attendance due to this tragedy. Back to business. Carry on.

Yup. Life goes on. Bad things happen to good people sometimes, but life goes on. Disney, contrary to popular belief, does not control nature.

Actually trips are planned so far in advance this is unlikely. Most likely the drop in attendance is due to unfavorable exchange rates, particularly for Brazillians.

Omfg give it up already. Disney will continue to be bombarded with people no matter what. An incident like this isn't going to be the end of Disney so just give it up.
