Most girls lacrosse varsity teams in VHSL that I know of are not that sophisticated in keeping stats. The private schools defiantly do this but not public. It’s team managers keeping stats who don’t know the first thing properly recording stats for lacrosse.

If a parent somehow “plussed” up the numbers as you say then put them in the same book as the team managers. That would be hard to do though because many teams keep multiple books, with asst coaches being one. Our school keeps three books and two parents reconcile them after each game to make sure they are accurate. Really no way for anyone to pump up the numbers. Most won’t go to this length, but our parents have 100% confidence in the stats.

This is hard because we don't have good stats. On the boys side, they track this information and load it into Maxpreps. On the girls, it seems to me that the coaches all roll into a meeting with their favorites and negotiate the best deals to get them the best outcome. Sure they have some stats, but they are their own, nothing validated, and much come from lop-sided wins where they run up their numbers.

If this forums wants to do this, I recommend you only use team and numbers, no names. And it all stays positive. No counterarguments against the player, and only naming your own player and giving their stats. Anything negative gets immediately reported and yanked out. The boys side seems to be able to do this, and even suggests All-District teams in this manner.

On the girls side you absolutely cannot trust the stats. Some teams do a really good of getting parents very knowledgeable about the game keeping them, but many schools hand the “team manager” a stat book and wish them luck. They don’t know the first thing about properly recording assists, ground balls, CTOs, saves, etc. PoY usually comes down to which team wins states.

We had a father one year who was plussing up his kids' numbers as he and another father kept the book. When all was said and done, she looked so amazing that it was obvious that they were doctored. Seriously, how do you beat a record with 30% more in a single season?

Are the rankings known somewhere?

I predict WP easily wins first game and goes on to beat Woodson.

I like those odds. It’ll hopefully be another good game for wp and woodson if they advance

Slips of paper numbered 1, 2 and 3. The AD from each school draws a number. That number is their team's seed.
