why would dems take control? They are not very popular outside of the dc metro area. it looks like the virgina and new jersey gov races that are lowouts for the dems is very close, this should give everyone pause
While "democrats" writ large may not be popular, the issues and positions they support have well over 50% and in many cases 75%+ support. It is mostly the GOP media eco-system that tears down and lies and doesn't provide nuance that has killed the democrats. They simply cannot communicate their way out of a paper bag. Anyone says "DEI" or "CRT" or "defund the police" or "socialists and communists" or "Biden Inc" and everyone knows what they are talking about, no matter how much gaslighting and lying goes behind those terms. The Dems, for whatever reason, simply don't have the capacity to match that level of media definition and penetration to keep up.
Dems haven't had a leader who could effectively communicate to the American people since Obama left office. This is how silly GOP talking points gain traction. Needless to say, mumbling, bumbling Joe wasn't an effective communicator but neither is Trump at 80 years old and Dems need to do a better job of taking advantage of this glaring weakness in an elderly man.
No the Dems have to go against Fox News, Twitter, Facebook, Google and now TikTok.

Anonymous wrote:I knew the Senate wouldn’t do it. So then Trump needs to be presidential and convene congressional leaders (from both sides) to discuss a deal/path forward.

not to sound the alarm yet. Get busy getting ready v stressing out already. Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I don’t think the Dems want the Pubs to end the filibuster so maybe they should end the shutdown?
Many Republicans don't want to end the filibuster because some of them are pragmatic enough to understand they might lose the majority.
Looks like not for at leat ten or more years.
Not the Senate for sure and not the Hoyse either with all the redistricting and the anticipated SC decision in few months.

The Senate Majority Leader needs to allow a vote on the rule change. If the Majority Leader refuses to bring the issue to the flood, it will never happen.
Frankly, I think Thune would resign his spot as Majority Leader before allowing a vote on a full range that nukes the filibuster (even if only for CRs/budgets).
Rules changes require a 2/3 vote.
No, they don't. McConnell got rid of the filibuster for SCOTUS nominees with way less than that.

If the Republicans get rid of the filibuster, they will absolutely tamper with elections to win.
