Gov Walz tweeted:
"Even if you’ve never gone through the hell of infertility, someone you know has. When Gwen and I were having trouble getting pregnant, the anxiety and frustration blotted out the sun.
JD Vance opposing the miracle of IVF is a direct attack on my family and so many others."
He showed in a personal way how reproductive freedom for women is not just an issue for women, it's an issue for everyone, and one that one that can affect men who want families too.
+1

'blotted out the sun' hit me straight in the heart. it's exactly how it felt. god bless governor walz.

Section 1. [121A.212] ACCESS TO MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS.
A school district or charter school must provide students with access to menstrual products
at no charge. The products must be available to all menstruating students in restrooms
regularly used by students in grades 4 to 12 according to a plan developed by the school
district. For purposes of this section, "menstrual products" means pads, tampons, or other
similar products used in connection with the menstrual cycle.

Note that the products are to be provided "in restrooms". Not "in all restrooms" and not "in boys restrooms". Of course all of us are shocked that the MAGA cultists have misrepresented this.
So are they available in the boys rooms or not?

Well let’s see, for decades they were both teachers who don’t make much money. They needed IVF to have their kids, and one of them has a learning disability. Sent both kids to college. He was in Congress where you need to maintain a place to stay here as well as your residence. Now he’s the Governor. Not sure they really ever had a lot of extra money. But I’m sure we’ll find out more when we see their tax returns.
Yeah this sounds like most people I know. Other poster is in a sweet bubble.
I’m a bit worried about his money management skills, honestly. Time will tell, I guess.
This isn’t helping the socialist/commie accusations. Not owning a home at 60+ as a current governor is embarrassing. He was former military so there’s no excuse to not owning a home.
He’s cheap
DP. He sold his home. He is the real deal—a public servant, a leader, a National Guardsman, and someone who cares about people. That money and property ownership may not matter that much to him is admirable. Having said that, if and when he wants to write a book or whatever, he will quickly have more money than pretty much anyone posting here. Tim Walz will be vp and, eventually, president. He will take this country to a better place.
Ok but my money better matter to this loony socialist. When I am 60, I don’t want to be broke like he is.
Or like Trump who has to use his political funds to pay his legal bills because he’s BROKE?
I’d rather be Trump broke than Walz broke
A fraud and grifter. Goals.
I would rather be Walz on his poorest day than Trump on his richest. You've never even seen the man smile or laugh, have you? He is the very definition of a wasted life.
I heard an interviewer ask Vance this a.m. where the "joy" was in his party? What made them happy? He said Trump had a great sense of humor and "loves to make fun of people".
No it was worse than that. Someone asked him what made him (Vance) happy and he snarled and called it a gotcha question from the media. That was a softball he could have answered by saying something nice about his kids or Usha or whatever.
He could've said "puppies" except Noem made that a sore subject.

IMO, providing it to public schools is a baby step towards a nanny government where people expect all their basic needs to be handed to them without any effort on their part.
This is why the Harris/Walz ticket scares me. It’s a small baby step towards bigger and bigger bloated government.
What is wrong with you? THIS is an issue for you? Removing sexist barriers the affect poor girls and young women? Because you’re afraid of . . . What exactly? Shame on you.
My point flew right over your head; you are so triggered by anyone who doesn’t think in lockstep with you.
Multiple people here have had the same reaction, so maybe you need to articulate it better. Why does providing supplies to kids in school bother you? Are you also mad about free breakfast/lunch at school? I know that’s also an issue for some on the right. What sort of work do you think poor kids should be doing to have their basic needs met in order to focus on school?
I have no problem with feeding the hungry and providing basic necessities, never intended to say that.
I do have a problem with encouraging people to not take personal responsibility— again I am not talking about period products themselves, but where this will lead.
Thank you for not flying off the handle, lol.
NP. Independent here. I get your point. I too am wary about how freely politicians spend taxpayer dollars. My concerns about waste are currently more focused on subsidies for agriculture and fossil fuel and military industrial complex which no one in the gop seems to think is worth controlling. Never mind the gop hypocrisy on the federal debt.
When I compare the likely cost of menstrual products, lunches and so forth for kids who have so little (and they are kids) I don’t get very upset about that use of tax dollars. I always think of the fact that Einstein was a refugee from nazi germany and how much he contributed from his new home: the United States! One or two of those kids could be another Einstein and most of the rest can be productive taxpayers. I’d prefer to feed and educate them than incarcerate them later. YMMV

Speaking of puppies (and kitties), Walz has pets and advocates for the humane society too!

Also, I am in Maryland which is probably a slam dunk for the Dems but if there is a way for me to help other states from afar, that would be great. In addition to donating $ of course.
I do postcards with FieldTeam6, mailing postcards to unregistered voters in swing states. Contact your local Democratic party HQ to find out how else to get involved.
