Bring more women who have a background like Gizelle/Robyn and money like Monique.
Or a humble to rich story like Ashley/Karen.
Because that is part of her Nigerian culture. As she clearly stated. So you can drop your white Western expectations about what is appropriate, because they don't apply to her culture.

I had a sip and see with my third child. It's a chance to hold and cuddle up to a newborn (pre-covid obviously). We didn't play baby shower games, or expect any gifts. We had champagne, brunch, chatted and passed the baby. It was much better than a shower.
Same. I don’t see it as a gift grab at all. We did one for my second and last child. It was literally just desserts and drinks. We didn’t do any cheesy games or anything. I had it open house style in my home. Friends trickled in over the course of two hours and just snacked and held the baby and caught up. It was very laid back and fun. [/quote
PP here....that should read my second child that was my last.

I wonder what the racial makeup of Ashley’s mom is. I know she’s black, but is she half-white?
Ashley’s mom is a light skinned black woman. We do exist and are NOT biracial as Giselle and Robyn have pointed out for years.
Robyn shared dna results one time, and if I remember correctly, she’s like 60% white or something. That’s pretty biracial, even if her parents do both check the Black box.
You don’t know what you’re talking about. Race is far more than the DNA of an ancestor.
The question was about racial makeup. Robyn is not all Black race. Therefore she is multiracial, if not downright biracial (black/white). That is a fact that Robyn herself has acknowledged. PP what is wrong with you?
DNA tests say sub-Saharan Africa. Sub-Saharan African =/= Black. Close to no African-Americans are 100% sub-Saharan African due to widespread rape, etc. It’s a multiracial group. I’m AA and less than 50% sub-Saharan African and no one would ever see me and say I was biracial. Her parents are the same race so how could she be biracial?
Because they are all mixed race, regardless of how they identify.
Are you slow? So are the only black people from Africa? Everyone else is “mixed race.”
You stated no one would every say you were biracial. You look black. Congrats. To many, Robyn doesn't, and I don't either. Doesn't make us any less black, but we can't act surprised/offended others don't think we are black when you hear it enough times. I'm not going to get outraged if someone sees me as white and I'm not. Their eyes can mistake me however they want and I have to deal with that.
So you answered my question with yes, yes you are. You didn’t say she shouldn’t get offended you said she was mixed race. But I can see you are hopelessly infatuated with the idea that you are a special black snowflake so I’m not going to engage with you.
I'm the PP to whom you responded and I have no idea what your point is or what question you are referring to. I was agreeing with you. This was my first reply to this thread, I didn't call anyone mixed-race and I was addressing that race (mixed or not, due to choice or not) matters little as it's how others see you that 'matters' in the US. That doesn't make any of us special. Please don't feel a need to respond-just not sure why you are salty.
I like how different the ladies are yet though they disagree and talk crap about each other more than some other franchises, they seem to genuinely LIKE each other, which is nice to see. (until this Monique/Candiace thing)

Ummm you don’t need to be hyper aggressive. This is an American show in America. The point of reality tv is to reflect much of the culture of the people that watch the show. It’s why shows like the Kardashians lasted so long because they were more American than Armenian.

i thought it was to celebrate her first daughter.
To celebrate her first daughter makes sense but to have sip and sees for third children is tacky. People usually send an photographed announcement
I'd never even heard of a sip and see until Phaedra.
Wendy clearly stated it was a cultural/Nigerian thing and it was gonna be over the top. I don't think they much care if western culture find it tacky.

Really? they don't even live in Potomac LOL
Monique and Karen do. RHOP is the best. My dh and his friend watch it because of Chris Samuels and Juan Dixon. The show has wide appeal. I loved when the ladies met to discuss the fight and Wendy and Karen talked about the impression they make and the negative stereotypes about black women. The show can be downright silly, but it has deep moments for sure.
