They do not need to go that far to find competitive games. There are girls on the team who would not be rec team stars. This was not mentioned at the parent meeting at the beginning of the season. Do the coaches get a kickback or something. I just don't understand the point.

Our old Valor coach scheduled my kid's team two years in a row for some crap tournament two states away. Turns out he went to college in that area and would meet up with his old college buddies that weekend.

Are you still with Valor?

Girls lacrosse is really a different sport than men's lacrosse.

Sounds about right from my experiences as a failed HS basketball player turned D1 Lax player in college.

The girls lax setup today is quite advantgeous despite less options as only the most competitive schools in the country have LAX teams. See all ivys, Hopkins D1 for Lax only, and then the NESCAC schools in D3 amazing academic opportunities. If you have a girl play lax, if you have a boy practice FG kicking for the D1 kicking opportunies at SEC schools. Its happened!

The kids who play lacrosse at our large public HS are the ones who wanted to play soccer but were cut.

I've heard lacrosse described as a good sport for kids who are athletic but don't stand out at other sports.

This is a common strategy for #1-2 teams for a club at U10 and uncommon for lower level teams. This is especially beneficial for teams who have played together and were successful at U9.

There are a ton of benefits to this and pretty much no downside playing lower/mid level NCSL U11 for a year going from 7v7 to 9v9 and then moving up to higher tier or even the other league. It is also a way to increase roster 1-2 spots w/a 1-2 yr plan of the team and coach/coaches sticking together.

Yes, NCSL is just a schedule service. Coaches/clubs choose their division.
