As a lifelong Republican, molestation survivor and the mother of 2 teenage daughters, I am puzzled by people still defending this man. What's right is right and many of us are so eager to stick it to Liberals that we lost sight of that.

I was molested by a "beloved" family friend at a time when my parents and I were struggling to see eye to eye. He convinced me that, if I told, no one would believe me and everyone would think that I was just trying to hurt my parents. I did not tell anyone until my late 20's and my father went to his grave not knowing that his best friend took my virginity.

I certainly have my issues with Ryan and McConell and, of course, Dems and the MSM. But I am not going to die on the hill of defending someone who, at the very least, inappropriately pursued teenage girls.

You are forgetting (or not knowing) there is a fundamentalist sect of Christian evangelicalism that does not abhor this type of courtship/marriage to young teenage girls. What they would frown on would be this kind of conduct outside of a marriage, or, as people have already stated, if the older man did so without permission from the teenagers parents.

THIS IS A REAL THING in some parts of evangelical Christianity.

Remind me how they’re not like the Taliban, besides being Christian.
