Different poster and I don't have any stats to back it up, but can say that my impression is that you are spot-on. The interesting question is why? Lax is an expensive sport, no doubt. But you'd think Montgomery with pockets of great affluence in Potomac, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, would have fueled the growth of lacrosse in the public school system (Churchill is probably the only public school team that could compete with the best schools in VA, and might be able to beat a lesser team in the WCAC or IAC on a good day).

VLC has more public school kids than the other elite clubs in the area. But as PP observed, there are a lot of private schools represented as well. For a while VLC was synonymous with PVI..


And you based this on what? BW, VLC and Madlax all have a mix of private and public kids. It varies, dependsing on the grade. None of those three are known for having more public or more private kids than the others.


DCE has a large number of MoCo public school kids.

Next Level seems private school heavy (Landon, Heights, ST Albans, Gonzaga), but I'm also noticing a few more MoCo kids every year.

Great for developing MoCo lacrosse!

Awesome, dad. Your constant pumping of DCE 2022 will attract more hate. DCE 2021 has fallen apart and DCE 2022 is just an ok team. But keep it up.

Nope, good info if you read through the lines (so to speak). Vast majority of threads on DCUM have this same issue. No need to delete, just refocus the crazies (and yes, DTT person is included in that category).

Wow very different from the fall ball high school game I attended today. Most parents were sitting except a few taking some pictures, and chatting after not seeing each other since last spring. There was brief clapping when a goal was scored.


Having been to many lax games, I call BS on this post. I've never been to any lax game that could be described that way! That's not meant as an insult by the way-just reality.

Fess up, what teams did you watch and we'll see if others agree with your description.


I agree. I've been to a ton of lacrosse games (club and otherwise) for my son and this describes exactly zero of them. I've never noticed much of a difference between lacrosse sidelines and say baseball, basketball, or soccer, despite people always saying this. It's the kind of thing that if you are primed to think it, then it becomes self-fulfilling. But in reality it's just not true.


So we'll make 4 who agree. It was a lovely day and I heard more people chatting and catching up than anything else. I don't think I even heard anyone calling out. There was some clapping once in a while but honestly the parents were too busy enjoying the sun and seeing each other after the summer break.
