Your insurance and copays cost what they do because of profit motives (even in ostensible nonprofits), high salaries for personnel and executives, dividends and share price increases for corporate stockholders, and because the very existence of health insurance raises costs to consumers. Do you honestly believe that if outlays went down everybody would charge less?

No it isn't. Read the Miller decision that put this thinking in play. The person convicted was not part of a militia. However, the Supreme Court did not say that is the conclusion of the case.
