Of course, my child has been in school 5 days a week down here in Greenville SC since Aug...but hey...what do us rednecks know anyway..

DC is the laughingstock of the whole country.

Isn’t Fairfax pS back ? Virginia just keeps leading, managing and operating better than MoCo and DC on all facets.

Oh God no they aren't back. Their union just said they won't be back until 14 days of no cases. Those kids will be lucky if they're back spring 2022.

George Mason University is back with super low cases. We'll see if that remains the case since Covid infected governor blackface was there recently.

Clearly not much since you keep voting in Lindsey Graham.

Do you really want to get into a discussion on local political voting...says the city that voted for Marion Barry...typical elitist BS...

Does anyone have insight as to whether most local privates that are opening hybrid will go online between thanksgiving and the new year? I know most colleges are doing that.

A private school teacher fantasizing about the union. If only she could join...you do know they deduct the dues from your paycheck like a tax, right?

I'm so glad to have you, and right here on DCUM, with your deep bench of knowledge to tell me how union dues work. Phew.

Our DC private school is managing this quite well. My kids are well adjusted and are able to handle changes. They are able to see their friends and are using their time after online classes to see friends in a safe socially distanced way. They have more time now to do activities they never were able to do before. Mindset is everything. Well run private schools investing in technology have made DL run smoothly. I am not opposed to going back but I won't pretend that things are terrible when they are not. My kids are doing well and are happy.

Things are not terrible, but there could be way more opportunities to engage in in person activities, even if classes are not feasible. The families paid for and chose in person school. So they should be trying however they can to let the students socialize if nothing more.

My lower school kid is being taught next to nothing the last month. It’s like all placeholder stuff and chit chat, then he gets hit over the head with math problems and has no clue what to do.
It’s ridiculous to call this education. I’d prefer to quit my job/career and homeschool or hire 15 hrs a week of tutors. He’s really behind.

Will call the school w how to coordinate this. Pick and choose relevant subjects and have tutor lead. Or get tuition back and move on.
