Barnesville School - not the same school it was once. So much turnover. Low enrollment and it keeps dropping. It's a mess there. So sad. Bullying and the kids who are bullied are not protected. Nobody knows what they are doing.

I am shocked to read that a former Head of School, with no affiliation to Barnesville School for 5 years, felt informed enough to praise the school in its' current state, and say that he would send his own children there.
Today's Barnesville School Administration suffers from poor leadership and academic chops, resulting in high teacher turnover (more than 3/4 of the teachers have left in the last 5 years.) This includes abrupt departures of the Spanish, Science and Social Studies teachers mid-year, because they were so fed up with the Head of School and Assistant Head of School. The Spanish teacher was not replaced, so the kids were left doing busy work for the remainder of the year. Sadly, departed teachers were replaced by mostly young and inexperienced educators, who are not given appropriate mentorship or oversight. The children in the classroom suffer.
Families are exasperated with the Head of School and Assistant Head of School's happy talk, but non-existent or sloppy follow-through on myriad concerns. There is no excuse for the poor academics, and the lack of extracurriculars like sports teams, catered lunch, and M.S. Peru trip, due to low enrollment, adds insult to injury.
I know Barnesville was once a fantastic school, but today it is a shell of its former self, lacking substance and relying on its' past reputation. I would not recommend it to my worst enemy.

It is OFFICIAL! Seneca Academy is forming an association with Georgetown Hill and will be open this coming school year and for years to come! GH (a solid preschool with 11 locations, and a couple including daycare for babies) has been looking to get into the elementary game for some time now, and this is a pretty seamless way in. Seneca will maintain its independence from GH, will support to make it better business wise and market it well so that everyone will know about this excellent inquiry based IB school in UpCounty.

So I wanted a recap. Seneca academy is merging with or getting bought out by Georgetown Hill? How come I don’t see that in the Save Seneca page anywhere on Facebook? I am happy for them. The school and land are an asset to the right people who know how to market this school and it’s worth saving the jobs of some of those great teachers.
