No. I know plenty of wealthy families who do not drive fancy cars, especially old money. They pay in cash and keep the car until it dies. But when they do buy it, it's a BMW or Mercedes. So older models.

I would still drive a Honda/Toyota, etc. even if I was loaded because these brands LAST.
And I agree that Kias are the cheapest cars on the roads.
They basically scream out “I wish I had the means for a better brand - but this is all I can afford!”

I don't know, I see a lot of the larger full size SUVs being driven by rich housewives. These cars can be quite luxurious inside but is not attention catching on the outside. Only the in-crowd knows that they are expensive. They are much more low-key than a Range Rover or G Wagon.
And the dad version of this is the extended cab F150s, Silverados and Rams. Those things are 70,000 and marketed as family haulers

You are absolutely wrong. Most rich people DO care about throwing their money away on a leased car. That’s how some people get rich - by not wasting their money. Most rich people aren’t driving clunkers but a number of them are driving more middle of the road cars like mini vans, Toyotas, Subarus, Hondas. We have a lot of money but that doesn’t mean we just throw it away frivolously. I drive a Toyota and refuse to spend more on a car. My husband wanted a Tesla, he paid cash.

I make observations and, yes, given our climate crisis we should all be making better choices about what we drive. A minivan can hold 8 people. I don't know any families even at Catholic schools that have 6 kids. Most have two or three. A few have four. A minivan's gas mileage is twice as good as a suburban. FYI.
Interesting how you don't say anything about the politicians getting carted around alone or with a single staffer in black Suburbans get a pass.

Not sure what dad currently drives, but the teenage son (17) drives his hand-me-down 2013 Camry. They're low-key people all around. super down to earth and seem to keep their kids grounded. Their (gorgeous) house is lived in. Not messy, but the expected amount of clutter for a large family while still being a really nice house. I think that they just like to be practival all around. Could they have fit their kids and sports equipment in the back seat of an X7?
