Have you watched the interviews over the years? The one where Kate's brother and his wife spoke out was pretty clear. The cameras brought $$ with them, true, but they were also intrusive at times and a lot of children (and adults) would not want cameras in there homes for that many hours (check the episode count for some years) or filming ever family vacation. I value my alone time with my loved ones far more than I value the almighty dollar.

Why are you ignoring jon’s role in the decision to have 8 kids? Jon and Kate has 2 kids. They tried to have another via infertility treatment, but ended up with 6 babies instead because all the embryos took. But that was the mistake of their doctor-not Kate

She didn’t have IVF, and to my knowledge hasn’t discussed the fertility treatments she used to get pregnant. I’m pretty convinced she took clomid or something similar, hyperovulated, and had intercourse against medical advice.

Kate refused him share custody and would not even follow the visitation order. Most judges only care about child support, not visitation. If mom restricts visitation rarely is anything done about it. He was not allowed to see his kids. It was not his choice but hers. He went to court many times. Not only did she refuse to see Collin but she abandoned him for three years. The show probably paid for the facility.

Jon was wandering the earth engaging in sleazy hookups while Kate held down the fort and earned a living. Some of the kids had some very hard feelings towards their dad. If the kids didn't want to see their dad it was probably for good reason.

Even now, 6 out of the 8 appear to side with Kate.
