People are considering other options because VIVA/ABGC have once again shown that they are unorganized and incapable of running a soccer program. Those deciding to stay don't really understand the current soccer landscape in our area and that VIVA/ABGC are a sinking ship and have been on that road for many years. Drive an extra 15 minutes in any direction and you'll give your kids a much better soccer experience.

My son plays there for 05s and it is a great year-around program that includes monthly player evaluations, fitness testing and video/classroom sessions. We have been involved in travel soccer in the area for a number of years and never experienced anything like this. Olympiacos DC has only one team per age group and they really focus on player development - not on numbers. Wish all of the soccer parents best of luck!
I’m sure no one wants to play in ODSL
or for a Greek team at that.
RE ODSL -- This is a starting League and is looking to grow into more competitive markets. True, they did tear up ODSL -- in 8 Fall games in their age group they won 55-7. But that really isn't the point. The real benefit of Olympiacos is that they teach European soccer. Their active defense scores about 10 offside calls per half, even against some awesome teams. The good teams adjust and usually still get called for 4 offisde in the 2nd half. The mids and forwards are passing, not kicking, into space. When opportunities are not there, they are taught to pass back to teammates who then quickly redirect the attack. Well, have to cut this short. Have to take the boy to our monthly film session. .... does that help? Yeah, I see improvement from all of the boys, especially in the areas addressed at the film sessions.
I would argue, come to a training session and see what you think. My understanding is that they still are looking for 05 07 and 08 players.
every club claims European/Best Soccer. Is this Greek team good in Europe to say they can teach good soccer? I imagine the pro players must be beating every European Soccer team and winning trophies
Should we jump every time we hear European soccer academy? Villareal, Juventus all these teams are in the area now should I join them or some low Greek league which is worst than the MLS. Hope you know not EVERY European country is good. Whats next Russian soccer coming to town?
Fully agree, we should not jump for any of the Euro soccer Academies. But let's not be ignorant. Russian team was a goal away from a final al last WCup, Greece had won a European Cup a while ago. The US Nat team was lead by the Greek coach for a number of years. Can these teams teach good soccer? May be. Why not. VillaReal is at the bottom of the Laliga this year. Olympiacos is on top of their fairly strong league. Does any of this really matter? I think not. Using this logic DC United should not have the academy since they do not play good soccer and at the bottom of MLS. What matters is - the coaches you have on the filed. If they are good - players develop. Currently Olympiacos has very good coaches. Having only one small team per age group also helps the development of players.

Spain only knows Bo and Carlos and they have determined they have a valid contract with Annandale United Futbol Club (AUFC). The lawyers determined that there are sufficient legal documents showing that AUFC is owned by Bo; therefore, Bo (and Carlos) had the ability to create Villarreal Virginia Academy (VIVA) when they partnered with Villarreal CF Spain. Ergo, there remains a valid partnership between VIVA and Villarreal CF Spain that will continue.
Their main goal was to start to establish a relationship and grow the project (VIVA). It was a great effort by the coaches to transform into the Villarreal CF Spain methodology to: adapt, accept, and change.
Villarreal did not formally meet with ABGC until late October/early November 2018 when they had dinner. Villarreal has no agreement with ABGC. Nowhere in any contract with Villarreal CF Spain is "ABGC" mentioned.
It is anticipated that Juan, Julio's boss, will write something for the families in a few days (near future). I think we anticipate this will be something favorable.
Summer field permits are in place (Pine Ridge and Mason??)
Fall field permits are dependent on the # of registered players and location of these players. However, it is anticipated we will have fields in the same general vicinity, perhaps even the same fields.
Villarreal CF Spain plans to continue their VIVA development with video analysis of players and coaches. Julio may not return; however, he will direct the coaching staff that does come to train our coaches and players. They very much want to build on the success that makes VIVA special.
Julio showed a quick presentation that recapped the goal to "build partnerships" to grow the program. It included a slide on working to develop VIVA coaches and players. And it also included the slide (we have seen before) depicting the goals: soccer awareness football IQ; Character, leader; and Competence.
The "now" plan is to continue with a goal of let's see where we go...
It is anticipated they will return in the fall for shorter stays and follow us from Spain. Bo and Carlos came in later and committed to maintain a full-time Spanish presence with VIVA.
Bo and Carlos discussed that coaches still cannot openly/publicly discuss where they are going until this current contracts are finished, around June 16th when summer season commences.
well, sorry Bo and Carlos, but … lets put things in perspective here. All sounds very uncertain and conditional. Let's start with the fields - if not enough kids sign up, they will get grass fields at elementary schools in the fall. VReal is basically pulling out - Julio will not return, coaches may come for a few days and will coach remotely form SpainAll sounds like they are on the way out. Sort of giving another chance until next screw up which will most likely happen given Carlos's expertise.
All of this is nothing compared to financial problems. Bo is used to getting paid 80K. But now he will not even be able to pay himself. After paying for the fields and other coaches will be nothing left. These guys are coaches - not business people.
Their thing will fold after the fall season. Sponsor are also not lining up. Best kids have already signed with other clubs. I like Bo, and feel sorry for him. He had a good job and now had been played by Carlos. Bo hates Laliga and Spanish soccer, which he sated to many players and parent on the filed just a couple of years ago. Now he has to kiss some Spanish a....sSorry Bo.

That is why bo and carlos brought the spanish coaches, to change the style more effectively. The spanish coaches are teaching to the coaches not to do that what every American coach does.
Makes NO sense - if Bo was so great and put so many kids in colleges, why he could not teach the coaches. Spanish coaches had minimal to zero impact over a year. All BS.
What's the situation for next year. Are they going to be able to field teams? Saw today that they announced that they are in VPL. Is there no case against them as previously mentioned on these pages?

Villarreal cf sent one of their directors of methodology(they only have three). The director of methodology is named julio and he picks a guys from spain that he thinks that will suit the players at viva.
