Do normal local non profits EVER get audited or have the AG poking around? At least half of the Form 990s I've seen reek of fraud and scams.

If you don't get it, you don't get it.
Racine's announcement came the same day New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) announced a lawsuit seeking to dissolve the NRA itself. James alleged that the pro-gun interest group violated state law that governs nonprofit organizations.
If some left-wing favorite org was robbing their members blind, they should go down, too. Nonprofits have clear rules to follow to remain nonprofits.
But that isn't her thing. She likes to go after the gun industry, and that is what she is doing....again.
They top execs could have chosen not to steal, then they wouldn’t be having any issues. Also, the NRA isn’t the gun industry. Hell, they’re barely spend any money on education and training for safe and responsible gun ownership. They spend most of their money on fear-mongering advertisements and lobbying. The only real way they’re in the gun industry is it’s their job to scare people into buying guns. Big, bad government isn’t coming to take away people’s guns. We still have the second amendment, and there isn’t enough support to do anything about amending the constitution to say otherwise.

If this is about politics, isn't it better that he wastes the money instead of use it for lobbying purposes.
Are you seriously asking why the AGs office would care about laws being broken?
Are you seriously not getting that the AG is politically motivated?
So using your logic, no prosecutors can fairly handle cases relating to people of opposite political parties? That makes a ton of sense...
Might want to re-take logic class.
Oliver North was president of the NRA until 2019. He believed there were financial issues and ordered an investigation. The investigation never happened, he was forced out instead. This was widely reported in the news and NY AG launched it's own investigation at the same time. You think they should have ignored this? Why?
But why NY?
She is a former defense attorney and one of the new woke prosecutors. She is pandering to her clueless left wing constituents by going after the NRA.
In June 2016, James attempted to pressure six financial institutions, including BB&T, Berkshire Bank, Citizens Financial Group, People's United Bank, Regions Financial Corporation and TD Bank, into ending its practice of providing financial services to gun manufacturers.
Did you not know that these people are politicians?
The NRA was chartered in NY. Hence jurisdiction.
Is that why DC is suing them too?
