You understand this is good policy and good for all taxpayers, correct?

How so? The US treasury collects interest on people's overpayments. So this means the US is collecting less interest. It is better for the citizenry to an extent, but since most taxpayers have traditionally overpaid and used the refund as a self-saving device, this year, there will be significantly less discretionary spending than in years past.

So where did all the money go if not for discretionary spending through the rest of the year? They just evaporate like rain drops on a wind shield? Poof! Gone. Like it was never there.

They spent it over the course of the past year. The problem is, our economy is already slipping, so the lack of spending this year will further exacerbate things.

Cutting SALT was genius . They killed the Democrats in blue states, and put all those state legislatures and local governments in play for the GOP. You’re not going to vote the President out. You’re not getting the Senate. We’re taking back the House. And most importantly after the President, we own the courts.

You can have your Democrat policies, and you’ll miss out on a tax refund. Or you can demand that your state income tax and local property tax stays under $10k. Up to you.

you have the intelligence of the average Trump voter. so do you think now people in blue states will vote for Trump an masse? if anything, they will vote even more against him. local taxes are necessary to offer good services so you don't live in third world country conditions. look at Kansas, certainly not a beacon of leftist thinking. the latest republican experiment with low taxes resulted in an economic disaster for the state, and in the republican majority in the state voting to increase taxes. when you have white, conservative, middle class soccer moms livid at how public services, including education, are going down the drain, even republicans raise taxes.

Glad you're admitting that the whole policy was all about hate and specifically designed to hurt blue States and urban areas. As someone who lives in one of those and is a right leaning independent, f u GOP. I will never vote Republican again.

There's one problem with your scenario. People in these states like having good local schools, roads, etc. In fact, they like them so much that they are and have been willing to pay for them. Hard to believe, huh?

I gotta admit, Maryland does rank higher than Virginia in over all education quality and road quality based on several rankings I looked at. Living in the NoVA bubble, it's easy to forget that overall as whole states, MD ranks higher on these things than VA.

No they don't -

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/28/the-10-states-most-in-need-of-an-infrastructure-overhaul.html (Maryland 5th worst infrastructure)

We make about 900k and our taxes went up about 20k!!

We lost our SALT deductions and that loss did not offset the lower tax rates.

Or prop tax in Fairfax was alone over 30k.

Stupid Comstock...Glad she got voted out of office.

We did not have to pay, but our refund was about a third of what it usually is. I don't know anyone who got a bigger refund or didn't have to pay.
