This is the funniest thing I’ve read in a while. A club with no league and brand new coaches being brought in from a decent club in the area. They’re going to get a DA in an already saturated market? This is rich.

This poster should hop into the WSVA girl’s thread. They can compete for most delusional.

There will be no new NOVA DA’s on the boys side. Apparently existing DA’s have been rejected on expanding to the older age groups.

Maybe SYC can get in on the girls side? They seem to let anyone in.

Have you been to the St. James? I would spend a lot of time there too if I had the time. It is pretty sweet. Not sure how that area can support another soccer club. There are already too many.

Apparently SYC leadership has been spending a lot of time at the St. James.

Yeah, that press release is pretty short on detail.

(I agree that this thread should be split off, btw.)

The St. James got into the youth volleyball market by essentially buying an existing club, Arlington Elite: https://www.arlingtonelitevbc.com/

With soccer, it looks like they plan to have 4 teams each of boys and girls, with year groups combined. For example, next year they plan to have 2004 and 2005 boys all play on a single team in the 2004 division.

No idea what the fees will be. However, just doing some basic, back of the envelope math:

8 teams x 3 practices per week x 1.5 hours is 36 hours of practice time per week.

Let's just say they'll want to put those practices in on weekday evenings between 5:00 and 9:00 pm. So that's 20 hours of field availability. And they have one field.

Of course, not every team is going to use the whole field for practice, but their field also won't be completely open. Without going too far down the rabbit hole, it's a head-scratcher: a whole club? academy? centered on one field. Hmm...

Why are we talking about the St James? They won’t have a legit team nevermind Club anytime soon.

Nice facility I would have my kids full time there. Except they need to experience rain and all they have can't have training under perfect condition everytime right?

Yet another soccer club in NOVA. Will drain younger players from BRYC, SYC, and Alex for sure, and never gets a practice rained out due to its facility. Lots of money behind this one.

The facility is super nice. Its going to take them some time to get enough interest. This might be worth having its own thread.

right. Putting another DA 5 miles away from Arlington makes a ton of sense.

This is such pure BS. Fairfax field allocations aren't based on where a club sits. It's based on registered players. US also has no plans of expanding the DA in NOVA. The market is saturated. They didn't give Arlington the girl's DA until VDA switched to ENCL. Also, US soccer wants club to partner for DA to increase the player pool. Who's partnering with SYC? This is a club begging to get into CCL after getting kicked out of VPL, so I'm not sure how you think it's ever going to get DA. Also, "all the SYC changes" are meant to make room for Este's buddies at LMVSC. Nothing more, nothing less.
