Name one New York doctor who would abort a healthy full-term baby or abort a healthy late-term baby on a woman not experiencing a medical emergency. Oh you can't, because the New York law allows abortions after 24 weeks only when a fetus is not viable (i.e. the opposite of healthy) or when necessary to protect the life of the mother.

Not anymore. Not with the new law.

You could literally elect to abort a healthy full term fetus while having delivery contractions.


This what the women of New York want. They want to be able to make that decision, if they so choose. They elected the people that wrote this law, which reflects their wishes.

A very good friend had one because her BC failed. She was on 2 forms of BC after that until she was ready to have kids. Got pregnant the very first cycle when trying for each of her kids. She's mega-fertile. Both she AND her DH were snipped to be safe.

And I knew 3 evangelical women who used abortion as birth control, for 2 of them their parents knew and paid for the abortion. The conservative evangelical young adult father's wanted nothing to do with the child or the woman afterwards.

Not the pp, but the only women I have known who have used abortion as BC are ultra right wing evangelical women whose parents never talked to the about BC or took them to the gynocologist. They only had bad info from their boyfriends.

When you are on the Christian right and/or Catholic and don't teach your kids anything about sex besides not to do it--thats who uses abortion as BC. They don't want to admit to their friends and family and church goers that their daughter had sex before marriage.

What policy and funding changes do you support to make proactive forms of birth control more accessible and available?

PP should be providing free BC and abortions.
