Not always. It is a title conferred by the monarch but is not automatically given to every eldest daughter; the current queen was not a princess Royal. Sorry, autocorrect just won't make royal lowercase after the word princess!).... There have only been seven princesses given that title.
And there can only be one living Princess Royal at any given time. If Charles had had a daughter and he became king he couldn't give her the title as long as Princess Anne was alive.
