Why not? Because your child is average for FCPS and should be fine in general ed, and will slow down the AAP class because he doesn't belong there. The NNAT score is below 50th percentile and the CogAt is close to 50th percentile.


CogAT is actually 80th percentile and NNAT is above average. Granted I know to cut it in FCPS you need 98th + so we all know my child will not be admitted. You don't have to worry about him holding back your superior child.


So why waste the committee's time with an appeal if you know he won't be admitted and admit he doesn't belong in the class?


I didn't say he doesn't belong. If I didn't think he was capable and it was a good fit I would never have referred.

Sorry I did have it confussed. I had to dig out the sheet. It was 86% AGE, 66% LOCAL, 90% GRADE. So, yes, he is in deed quite dumb for Fairfax. Maybe I should look in to special ed, instead.

Wow. I'm surprised. The CogAT is good and the WISC is 134. Was your DC in FCPS. Where did you do the WISC?


Yes, in FCPS. WISC was done by FCPS and IEP included recommendation by the psychologist for advance placement (academic testing was 99% too). I'll be curious to see what the GBRS is but I wasn't worried b/c teacher recommended referral and currently receives level II. Guess I was wrong...


having no idea what your child's issues were, we were heavily dissuaded from AAP for my child b/c they said there were no special ed supports available at the school.

NP, but some of 22182 have Westbriar as a base (and therefore center) school, while other parts of that zip are zoned for Colvin Run, which is also a center.
