I think the actual beaches are gross. The restaurant options are dismal. And the homes/rentals are just not my style. Even the nice ones. I mean I'm sure there are many homes there I would like, but in general I didn't like them.
What is gross about the beaches?
It doesn't have the good, clean sand. Most of the beaches I went to were rocky and had lots of shells too ( hard on the feet). The S. carolina beaches are bigger (wider) with better sand and waves roll in better. I also think Florida has good beaches in many places and I love the beaches in nantucket and the hamptons. I found beaches in Georgia to be a bit muddy with different sand. There are different types of sand everywhere! some is stickier, muddier, rockier etc....

Plus, they allow dogs on the beach, which is just gross.
Well your poopy kids in diapers are also gross.

I never been to Hawaii but have never heard anyone disappointed by it... what was your experience?
I'm guessing typical American tourist who went to Waikiki.
I suspect most tourists to Hawaii, including to Waikiki/Honolulu and every other island, are American, typical or not, given that it’s a US state.
We have visited Oahu several times and have stayed out in Ko Olina. When we have driven into Waikiki/HNL, it is full of Japanese , not Americans.
This is true. It’s 7 hours from Tokyo and 9+ from DC.
That's a silly comparison. It's six hours from L.A. to Oahu. more people on the west coast go to Hawaii than D.C.
I’ll back up the poster that said most tourists there are from asia. It’s a bunch of Asians and American military families, and some other random tourists.

Anonymous wrote:Locally, I find Annapolis very overrated. I don't need to see it again.
Also, Tangier Island. The boat to it was fun, and I am glad I got to spend two hours riding around it on a golf cart before it is lost to rising water, but I don't understand why anyone would stay overnight for a few days.
