PP here, that feeling makes perfect sense. We don't know that the OP even applied this year, though, let alone got in ahead of both of us (my kid is low-50's WL). So this is a good opportunity for some much-needed education re the Montessori model.
Also, while I share your frustration, no one promised us free Montessori just because we want it badly. In fact, pre-K funding is specifically targeted to kids who most help because their parents can't, won't or don't have access to other quality options.
Just some perspective you might want to consider. I find it helps to relieve the stress of this arbitrary process. And going by your mere presence and expertise here, your kid is going to thrive no matter what.
