I had a Sega Master System. I read that SMS only had 10 percent of the home video game market when it was up against NES. So I guess that's special.

NES was the far superior platform but the Master System was pretty fun as well.

Preach.

+2. I feel like the Millennials are so impassive and self absorbed. Someone could be murdered in front of them and they wouldn't look up from their phone. Or they would tape it, but wouldn't lend a hand to help.

We X'ers are basically forgotten right now. We need to be louder, I think.

Most of us are children of "the silent generation", those who were born during the Depression and WW2. We are their echo and will always, from a demographic standpoint, live between the Boomers and their offspring, the Millenials.

Worst part about it is that we are the last of the kids were were more or less on our own as kids. The Boomers started all of the crazy crop with helicopter parenting and participation trophies and we have to succumb to as parents. What the fuck happened with the Boomers that they screwed up their kids and thus our kids childhood?

My parents were very much Boomers. They were born in 1946. I was born in 1969. I think a lot of us had Boomer parents. My parents had a lot of the Silent Generation mentality though. They inherited a lot of their parents Depression era habits.

I guess by definition I'm a Gen Xer--born in late 1978--but I don't really remember most of the stuff that's been mentioned. Or I remember, but it's fuzzy. And this is despite having an older sib. I think I'm a little stuck btwn Gen X and Millennials (although I don't feel like a Millennial either).

Yep! Still know a few phone numbers of friends from back in the day. But unfortunately, it is less than a handful.

I know. And that's actually dangerous, not knowing the actual numbers of loved ones. The only one I know offhand is my parents' number.

I think I was the only family in the neighbourhood with a rotating tv antennae. I was always the one in charge of changing the channel, which meant a large noise emanating from our house as the antennae switched directions due N or S.

My siblings were born in '65 and '67 and all of us identify with a lot of these memories. I don't really think those of us born around then identify with Baby Boomers. For instance, I don't remember when (either) Kennedy was shot.

By definition, you are a boomer, but your siblings are Xers.

Yes! Funny you mention it. I just started following WPIX (channel 11 in NY) and they constantly post clips of all the old shows and commercials, including The Magic Garden. If you are a NYer, I definitely recommend friending WPIX, it's so fun to see all that old stuff.

Yes to the "printers and looooooong banners on perforated printer paper." You would make one for your best friend that said HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH! and add hang it in your classroom. Lolz
