The three guys who shot at police with a MAC-11 by the Capitol last week?

All 3 have been released.

The combined charges are:
-assault on a police officer
-carrying a gun without a license
-discharging a firearm
-fleeing from police
-reckless driving
-being in a vehicle with a firearm
-resisting arrest

All three of the defendants were released PR-HISP, which stands for Personal Recognizance - High Intensity Supervision Program.

So crime committed, arrested...and let go.

It's not the police.

Condolences to the soon-to-be victims.

Youngsters used to rob people all the time on the Clifton Park golf course in Baltimore too back in the day. Probably still do. They didn't care what color you were either.

This is why I stay my old black ass away from these degenerates in DC. These bastards out here don't give a damn about no one. You can't even chill, play tennis in peace, and enjoy your retirement without thugs running up on you like some Game of Thones Saga. What the Hell is going on with the black youth in DC? The lack of respect for our elders is sickening! I never thought that I would feel this way, but honestly as a black person myself I'm getting to the point where I don't even want to be around black youth anymore because it's become a personal safety issue. Out of all of my years growing up and I grew up during Jim Crow. These feral demonic bastards scare me more than the KKK. That's why I sold my house in DC last year and bought a house on a 1 acre lot in Howard County to escape these monsters. Who the Hell wants to spend their retirement looking over their shoulders everyday damn day? Most normal and civilized folks just want to be at peace and be left alone. However, that isn't possible in DC. Here these kids are giving better opportunities than what I had as a child and they piss it all away by adopting a street mentality. I can't blame white folks for being scaring of them. Heck, I'm scared of them too. It makes no damn sense that people died, spent time in prison, and march for these ingrates to have rights, but these is how they repay our elders? This is how they treat the people that pave the way for them? All the blood, sweat, and tears have gone down the drain. What a disgrace the black youth in DC have become. Their mothers should have aborted them and saved society from their terror. Sigh!

Nice try, troll.

Eh, sounds like something my black father would say. Don't think it's a troll. Black people hate crime, too. That's why all this "what about black on black violence?!" refrain to BLM is so odd. Black people also hate crime by blacks! And there's no debate that those criminals should be arrested.

Before he was a pariah, Bill Cosby had a joke about being glad that the young man walking behind him in a hoodie turned out not to be a black youth.

Jesse Jackson has said something similar:

There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.... After all we have been through. Just to think we can't walk down our own streets, how humiliating.

These types of attacks are reported daily in DC and no one is saying anything about it. I feel sorry for people that live in the crime ridden neighborhoods. What about their rights to live in a safe neighborhood? Where is the outrage? We need more police and harsher sentences for repeat offenders.

+1. Many of us are only concerned with the violence because it has expanded into the parts of DC in which we live or frequent.

I agree, Unfortunately, it is only when the unpleasantness of crime expands into these neighborhoods will we actually see action from our elected officials and senior police officers. Otherwise, they don't care.

Sadly, this is true.

No disrespect to hard working officers intended. But let's not pretend that the union leadership loved Ramsey, either.

http://georgetownvoice.com/2012/02/23/mpd%E2%80%99s-bogus-statistics-betray-public-trust/

Article reporting how Lanier manipulates her crime closure rates. If she manipulates the data boosting her effectiveness in closing homicides, one can infer that she has no problem manipulating the data concerning a decrease in crime.

You did read the rather extraordinary editor's note in the lead in there, right? The one that essentially disavows the earlier misleading version of the story, and includes the following:

In fact, as the article reported, the department has followed practices consistent with federal crime-data guidelines and relied upon the same methodology used by other major municipal police agencies. The department hasn’t altered the ways it calculates homicide-closure rates since Cathy L. Lanier became chief in 2007, and it discloses its methodology in its annual report.

Oooh, that sneaky Lanier. Continuing the methodology used by her predecessor, following practices consistent with federal crime-data guidelines, and using the same methodology as other major municipal police agencies, all of which is disclosed publicly.

Cunning.

http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/news/city-desk/blog/13066748/human-rights-watch-mpd-officers-blame-intimidate-sex-crime-victims

Here's one where the Human Rights Watch accuse and show data where Lanier made excuses for erroneous data concerning sexual assault victims. HRW accused MPD of misclassifying, failing to investigate, or intimidating victims to dropping their reports. Sound personally familiar in my case.

The allegations that were largely debunked here (Note: not that MPD investigators did not make mistakes or that processes could not be improved, as it sounds you can attest):

The people out on the street know what is going on.

http://dcpoliceunion.com/blog/crime-has-decreased-under-chief-cathy-lanier-false

The DailyCaller citing union leaders who are orchestrating a no confidence vote on the eve of union elections? Union leaders claiming crime is bad, and that oh by the way, they need more dues paying union members?

I'm shocked.

Charles Ramsey became the police chief when crack cocaine was soaring; DC was near or at the top of the list for murder; police department had no computers; police department did not have command busses or JOCK commands; morale was low; etc. He walked into a horrendous situation, but Ramsey turned it around. Former Mayor Williams made a good choice in making Ramsey chief of police. The crime and murder rate slowly began to decrease under Ramsey's leadership. And the crime numbers continued to decline until 2011. Guess what, not once during his long tenure did the police union give Ramsey a vote of no confidence. Never. Unlike the current chief, the men and women that you just gave the finger to in your statement knew that Ramsey cared about his troops. Just like a new incoming president, For several years Lanier benefitted from Ramsey's policies and initiatives. Her policies and initiatives are now being felt, and yes crime is going up. Even with what I and many others believe to be suppressed statistics, crime has been incrementally increasing since 2012. Whenever she gets replaced, it's going to take the new police of chief to do some miracle work. The department is imploding from the inside. All you need to do is talk to the officer on the street, but do to serious retaliation and retribution from the top, I doubt too many would open up to someone like you. Someone who so easily dismisses them without a thought.
