I can tolerate a 10% cut.. 50% is just outrageous. This is fundraising for public schools that we are talking about..

Here is why Boosterthon is a big scam:

"Boosterthon, took 48% of the total money raised, on top of a $2,000 fee they made from the PTA."

Source: https://groundswell.org/public-schools-private-fundraisers/

BTW there are other articles online too that describe this commission. Just google them.

Boosterthon is pathetic.

Boosterthon is a big scam. Our ES is hosting it again this year [W pyramid] and I hate it. Many parents complained about it last year, but they are still hosting it. I guess we will have to scream and complain louder this year.

Welcome to Boosterthon to posting on this forum. Why don't you name your school if your school actually loved it? Nothing to hide except a big fat lie.

Okay Boosterthon mom. Nice try.

1) there is no comparison. The Boosterthon does a daily huddle for 9 days and calls kids out by. Amen based on daily pledge performance. And the character lesson component is pure evil. They tell the kids that they are supposed to care about their school. Guess how? By getting pledges. So if the kids don't get pledges, they don't care about their school. Remember these are young children.

2) you don't have to sell wrapping paper!!!! Or anything else.
Direct donation, box tops, giant rebates. Just spend less as a pta rather than hurt kids with fundraising so that you can help kids with the things you pay for with the fundraising

Kids crying that they don't want to go to school because they feel so awful?

Yup that's hurting children.

There are kids who come home stressed and anxious about not raising enough money, and kids from low-income families who feel shamed and left out for not being able to raise money, missing out on prizes other kids get. For a 5 or 6 year old, I would consider that literally hurting those kids.

I agree. It is so demeaning. It should never be brought in the classes. The teachers hate it so much.
