I do think women should register for the draft. I do know that we haven't had a draft since the 1970's. I do know that there have been enough people to cover the demand for military personnel so it's likely that no one will be drafted - neither men nor women. I do find the attitude toward woman in this thread really sad. There is a lot of anger and resentment toward women. Just starting the thread was a provocative gesture and could be construed as a desire to incite fear and anger.

Only 13% of all males now alive have ever served. Of the current cohort of military age males the percentage is more like 5%. So stuff your righteousness up your ass.

As for losing your daughter to a senseless death, I am sure all those families with sons really wanted their boys to be drafted. No one wants their children to go to war, when it happens it's a tragedy for all.

So basically it's ok to scream about equal wages (usually not equal work), and whinge and moan about air conditioning as a patriarchy tactic and what not. But when it comes to a true test of sacrifice and equality all bets are off. Hypocritical.

The question is, will they keep the standards that high if only a microscopic number of women qualify? I doubt it.
