Really, really appalling that Rolling Stone published this article without fact checking. These lies are so destructive to college women, especially because I know, as I've written in this thread, that at least one of the other reported rapes did happen. Thanks Rolling Stone for setting the clock back.

Be sure to thank the FEMALE author who has greatly harmed the believability of true victims when they report an actual rape.

Should we label her a misogynist too?

She is a victim...that means she can do anything and not be held responsible for her actions.

Pretty significant takedown of Jackie's story put online by the Post this afternoon:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/u-va-fraternity-to-rebut-claims-of-gang-rape-in-rolling-stone/2014/12/05/5fa5f7d2-7c91-11e4-84d4-7c896b90abdc_story.html

The guy she identified to friends doesn't belong to that fraternity, the fraternity didn't have a party that night, or even have pledges at that time of year. Her story changed about the number of attackers, etc., etc.

The Jezebel story just demonstrated for me how complicated these issues are. I am a liberal middle-aged woman with a fairly wild high school and college past and even as described by the victim, I find the Jezebel case a close call. I certainly had multiple occassions where I was with a guy, got drunk and had sex or close to it and both (1) indicated that I consented and (2) had little to no memory after the fact of having done so. That's not something to be happy about, but it certainly is true that someone can in the context of a night of partying consent to drunk sex and then not remember it. Although she in that article talks about the guy in a way that blames him for her drinking, she chose to drink every drink she drank and there was really no evidence of drugging. (given the amount she describes herself as drinking she certainly drank enough to have memory loss). Not to say that nothing inappropriate happened, but I don't see how we can know what the guy saw, was told and understood. I certainly would not be comfortable with calling someone a rapist when two drunk college students make out and one of them doesn't remember how it happened without more proof.
