I love complaints about horrible lawyers, lobbyists, journalists, etc. Most of those complaints are by people who are lawyers, lobbyists, journalists, etc., or stay-home mommies who are supported by the same (or by the rarified class of noble doctors).

Why did you bring this up again? Long story short, the poster said "any natural bodies of water," making no distinction between fresh water and salt water.

Where does it say rivers are not considered "natural bodies of water"?

Everything else you wrote I agree with. My main issue is with the traffic. Rush hour is from 3pm to 7pm! Trying to get out of the city on the weekend, the traffic is worse outside the city than inside!


Thank MD and VA for DC's traffic. The Skins are not such a bad team with three superbowl wins. Last season was a disgrace, though.

Hell, I've noticed all DC teams improving on performance for the last four years. Lets go Nats!

I have no energy to read through the 15 pages of posts but we moved out of DC last year to Europe and miss it dearly. DC is a fantastic city and we can't wait to return.

People don't like to admit it, but black-white relationships in DC are horrible. There is no middle class. The public schools are not good. I would agree with all of this, esp the bolded part. It's a very pleasant, walkable city with great playgrounds and tons of entertainment for kids (museums, lots of free events), a very educated population, but a very bland core.


and the Langley, Mclean, Great Falls is generic, rich, over achievers. unless you are part of the club you will be an outsider. and you know when you are not part of the club.



I chose to be not part of the club. Do not feel like an outsider, but then I'm not sure I would notice if I was?

Thank you. Geez, some people can't differentiate salt water from natural bodies of water. If salt water is "natural", then the fresh water MUST be artificial!

Perhaps the mistake was that some of us probably thought of things WE like to do at water bodies, and how some of those said water bodies in the area fall short of our expectations to do such things. There are also varying interpretations of what people mean by "natural." In any event, it seems like an awfully silly thing to squabble about. So what if the Anacostia isn't everyone's cup of tea.
