Did you read the thread? Kid is named Champagne Glitz.

Oh that is fine. Champ is great and so is Payne. It is a sweet name given to her by someone who loved her.

And honestly...Champagne Glitz? So what? ._. Call her Champagne...Shampain to be clear on pronunciation. And how is "Champ" not the best nickname one could ever have?!?! How did you not think of that one...?

She will grow up with a very unique name and if you love it, so will she and so will everybody else. Sometimes it's a question of having the right attitude.

It's not "very unique". She'll have company down at the local strip joint.

Change the poor child's name. Champagne Glitz to Elaine Grace, bam, suddenly you've improved her SES at least four notches.

And whitened her up at least four shades.

PP again...also Delaney and Charlotte (could nickname Lainey and Coco?) are similar to their given names but different enough that they wouldn't get mixed up between former/new names. Or instead of new flower names, princess names? Alexandra, Diana, Margaret, Catherine, Anastasia, Elizabeth, Isabella, etc.

How about changing Champagne to Elaina, Helena, Paige, Shannon? I I think Chanel, nicknsmed Nelly, is nice. But if you change one girl's name, you should change both...Elaina and Noelle?

Another idea - what about telling them they are such beautiful treasures as your new daughters that you would like thrm to have fresh new "flower" names? New middle names...Payne and Nell and let them each pick a flower name....Lily, Rose, Daisy, Calla, Violet, etc....you could make it really special and learn about the different flowers with them and let them choose.

Best of luck. I'm sure whatever you choose will be fine, but this is such a difficult (and exciting) decision to make, I couldn't help but think of what alternative names I might choose in your situation.

Paige?

Charlene? (think you said you wouldn't do this, but not sure why - it wouldn't have the 'ain' sound the way I'm hearing it - think - pronounced "Sharleen"

Charlie would be super-cute (think like Stevie Nicks or Georgie Girl)

We are now parents to two daughters! The one I was posting here about is Champagne Glitz. I was not kidding about the name. Her older sister also has a stripper name but almost immediately DH found a tweak to it and we will aim to work towards modifying her name to the nickname if she's amenable.

Please know that even though it took me quite some time to update you all, DH and I both read through all your responses and appreciate the time each of you took to weigh in with your opinions.

No way, I was seriously just going to post that my guess was Champagne. I knew a Champagne (which was her given name). She was actually a stripper for a while.

Chanel doesn't sound so bad. Chanelly sounds totally weird. I would stick with Chanel.

I think Chanelly is a pet name from a parent to a child like Claire Bear or Isabelly.

So, within the last month you found out the sister exists and adopted her? Because usually there's a six month waiting period, and during that waiting period you almost definitely don't have permission to post a child's name online.

Unless she was already in the system in another county or the parents voluntarily relinquished rights. Don't be such a curmudgeon

No, there's a six month waiting period after the child is placed in your home. Even a child who is already free, or to whom you already have a connection.

Either the OP is lying, or the OP doesn't care a whit about these kids, to use their uncommon and identifiable names in this setting. Or she's a troll. I hope that's what's true.

For agency adoption. For private adoption, there isn't a waiting period. If it is foster to adopt it is a minimum of six month to make sure everyone adjusts.

1) If you check the title, it's clearly not private adoption.

2) Even in private adoption, the adoption is not finalized immediately. There is a waiting period, although it's true that there probably aren't rules about posting a child's name online, it's just unethical and in bad taste in that situation.
