At the end of the fall semester at Colby you can look forward to days with less than nine hours of sunlight where the sun sets at about 4PM. the temps go below freezing around this time of year and get above freezing in early April. All in all, a great place to spend a summer semester. But sunshine, long days and warm temperatures aren't of everyone - especially those who don't want to be surrounded by happy people.
Cold weather isn't for everyone, but it doesn't make everyone sad (seriously?) either. Also Maine isn't Minnesota or North Dakota. Young people, most of them anyway, are hardy. They have plenty of time to be snow birds when they are old and retired.
