are these all chinese tiger moms? seriously, I'm curious.
How many hours a day do you read? Just curious.
me? I read all day at work. For pleasure, I probably spend 45 minutes a day reading newspapers/magazines online or in print, and try to read a book (usually non-fiction history) maybe every other month. For my child, we normally read her three or four books every night.
As for tv, I am not a tv junkie. I don't watch the Bachelor or too many shows, but it just seems odd to watch ZERO. So many channels, some better than others, it seems hard to believe that nothing on there interests you. Travel shows, history shows, sporting events, movie channels, whatever. But hey, this has been eye opening to me.

What about vegans? Do they offend you, too?
Anonymous wrote:Do you know what wheat looks like before its turned into flour? Wow, and zuchini bread looks nothing like a zuchini. Seriously, almost all of our food, except raw or steamed fruits and veggies, is processed to some point and does not look remotely like what it started out as.

Turning on PBS for 1/2 hour for a specific show is not that different from putting on a DVD or using Netflix. Any time that the parent is vetting the program and there aren't commercials, that doesn't seem that bad to me. It sounds like the aftermath really has a lot to do with which direction parents lean (and also the style of TV-watching that they do themselves).

mcdonalds is an acquired taste. some people like it... my husband grew up eating it and likes it. i personally don't eat much from there.
i do remember getting a look from another mom while at the park with my toddler son. he was eating his happy meal. we don't eat at mcdonald's all the time, but we will occasionally pick it up before heading to the park. i really didn't appreciate the look!!
