Are there different levels of MLS next? With the reclass, my son made the MLS next team for the younger age group (Summer birthday right after the cut off). I was honestly shocked he made it. So he’s not allowed to play on his high school team (if he makes it?)

So are you saying that MLSNext won’t actually go through with tightening the rule (ie, will still allow simultaneous playing in HS and MLSNext for those who have waivers)? Our club coach also told us that the possibility had been communicated to them but until it’s in writing in the waivers, there is a possibility it’s not going to be implemented.

For us without kids at that age

Are you saying there are kids going through the excessive running fitness and physical training of HS soccer while also doing 4 days a week MLS Next team training and playing 2-4 games per week?

MLSNext has a regular schedule in fall and spring. A dozen or so games each in the fall and spring.

Have you seen the new language in writing?

yes, where? because the waiver has not been published yet and the cross referenced rule in the current waiver does not say this either.

That team lost a ton of quality players that graduated. It had nothing to do with coaching, they were just good players.

There is no such rules. The only ones that care about kids playing high school is the mls next league committee. They want to keep all our their players under wraps so they can create a monopoly around soccer and make more money. Most programs and coaches could honestly care less, they don’t want the kids to get hurt but even they know high school soccer has some benefit. From what I have seen over the years, the mls next kids who do extremely well in high school have great college careers and the ones who don’t look special are usually one year at college and quit. On a MLS next team there is probably only 4-5 good players and the rest are just fillers.

In the DMV, sooooo many MLSNext players play in middle school and high school and I don't see anyone getting into trouble. The only ones that do are DCU academy kids, which does make sense since they're really the ones on the pro path. Otherwise, it's dumb to apply it to all MLSNext players, from the starters who get all the minutes all the way to the ones who aren't even getting on the roster.
