The Atlanta apartment property tax bill did not show her taking the homestead credit. The Ann Arbor property tax bill shows her taking the full primary residence credit. It’s been that status since she bought the home in the early 2000s.
That said, it’s very common for people who rent out their primary home to not realize that they need to proactively change the tax status with the local governing entity. Happens all the time with former primary homes.
How would you maintain a home state and voting registration if you had no address in the state?
