It lacks the prestige of an Ivy or other top privates and it lacks elite programs like engineering at GT or Michigan. Plus it doesn’t have D1 sports like Wake or Tulane, which are important to a lot of kids. It seems like an oversized LAC but not in a good way.
If it lacked the prestige, it wouldn't have the attraction dummy. If it's not D1, or not Rah rah, etc. It must have something to attract the caliber of student it attracts. Also, Emory's best program is better than anything GT or Umich has to offer. A #1 nursing program is more impressive than the obscure engineering majors GT does well in.
58% test optional with the lowest class ranking percents compared to other schools. what were emory’s scores pre test optional and how did it compare to these schools then?
Anonymous wrote:Why does this poster keep coming after GT and Umich. Different animals. These are public universities like UNC UT etc that need to admit a certain % of instates. So weird. Emory is more like Case Western or Tulane. More viable comparisons

wonderful schools, just tough for kids to get excited about them

From Emory 2024-2025 CDS
Total first time, first year admitted and enrolled 1,438
Of those who actually enrolled:
Submitting SAT Scores 623
Submitting ACT Scores 286
= 909

here we go. last time pre test optional, emory’s enrolled class had a 1400 to 1510. not bad but not elite. certainly lower than actual top privates at the time.
georgia tech was 1380 to 1520 for same period

An Emory booster would never start threads like these. We have no reason to punch down, talk about a waste of time. GT grads can't find jobs currently, worry about that. Emory is more than fine.
