Joining the FBI is a commitment, but can be a very fulfilling and interesting career.
The application process can take 12-18+ months. It consists of the following:
- Submit a complete application packet, including official transcripts and employment history, to verify eligibility.
- HR specialists will review the application to determine if you meet minimum qualifications.
- Phase I Test: A three-hour computerized exam with five assessments.
- Meet & Greet: An information session with a local field office.
- Phase II Testing: Includes a written assessment (Phase II a) and a structured interview (Phase II b).
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT): You must pass a physical fitness test that includes a timed run, sit-ups, and push-ups.
- After passing the initial assessments, you will undergo a background investigation.
* Components of the background investigation include:
* A polygraph examination
* A medical evaluation
* Fingerprinting and drug testing
* Interviews with references, associates, and potentially your family and neighbors
* Credit and arrest checks
* Verification of educational achievements
- Conditional Job Offer (CJO): You will receive a conditional offer of employment if you successfully complete the prior stages.
- Final Job Offer: After the background investigation is fully cleared, you will receive a final job offer.
- Entrance on Duty (EOD): A date for your first day will be scheduled, followed by orientation and specialized training.
