What does this mean? That Richmond didn't use some of its players who had been playing for the 2012 team as well as playing for boys teams at the same time and presumably they are super talented and that impacted Richmond's competitive ability?

It’s a team sport and not performing on a national platform is a result of not playing as a team. Some coaches are so hungry for a win, they lose touch with what matters. They advance certain kids for the wrong reasons. PP stating this isn’t what’s wrong with greedy club soccer. In actuality nothing more than rec soccer of yesterday.

Soccer clubs are a business. It's their job to cater to their customers, to retain and attract new customers. It is not their job to put their best team forward and play as a team like a professional club. The players join the team so they can attend ECNL events and showcase their skills in front of college coaches with the goal of getting recruited to play in college. ECNL is a college showcase platform and the only way to participate is to join a club team. We pay $1000s for the showcase opportunities not for team performance.

Nope. Clubs keep dismantling teams by bringing outside player but soccer is a team game. You need to develop the team and stick with a style of play based on your players strengths.

What if your team's coach plays to one players strengths and ignores the other 10 on the field + 6 on the bench?

Yep, he’s the coach, but team really has stayed together without a lot of turnover and adds. Makes a difference IMO.

This is a good example,of a coach that chases teams.
