How does SY solve that?

It doesn't solve it, it shifts it. That's why this whole argument is stupid. June, July, and August kids are just the ones that will be most Disadvantaged. But they will at least be playing with those in their same grade unlike Q4 is now.

They don't even go to the same schools or live in same neighborhoods
So what difference does same grade make?

Playdates?

The same emotional maturity. My 3rd grader has some 5th graders on her team. They all have cell phones. We aren't there yet. Obviously this is just one example.

Soccer skills and talents are tied to cell phone access?

Ridiculous examples are a clear sign that one is losing an argument.

Are you deliberately obtuse? At younger ages skill is tied to how old you are. Being in the same grade is tied to emotional maturity. I'm sorry you cannot think about more than one thing at once.

Tiger Woods was on National TV hitting golf shots at 3 years old
If skills were tied to age, we would all be able to do that at 3

Guess what, some would be able to do that if their dad had them swinging a club from the time they can stand.

Which proves the point, skill and talent is not tied to age and grade.

All it proves is there are outliers.

No, it proves that talent and skills are not tied to age and grade.

Or all U16s would be Cavan Sullivan

But the ability to use those attributes CAN be tied to maturity, which CAN be tied to age and grade. Cavan Sullivan is an outlier, do you understand what that means?

It doesn’t. The age changes that US soccer has done now twice in the last 10 years is a race to no where. The problem with staying BY is that everyone else will be SY. Period. Everyone else changing creates the problem. Maybe not an issue the first year or two as the sept-dec birthdays that were during well before will stay on the BY team. After that, staying BY creates a barrier for sept-dec birthdays as they will have to skip an age group to change from a SY team (which all will be u8-u12) to join a BY team. Ecnl becomes a viable option for those birthdays going forward. Creating this problem with no real advantage to staying BY doesn’t make sense.

Did you play sports in school? When you were in 7th grade did you play with the 8th graders? How did that go?

The question was about 6 month difference existing in both BY and SY, not about grades.

I won't play semantics with you; you can have it.

Pretty sure it isn't semantics when discussing a six month gap difference on the calendar

Touched a nerve. There isn't an argument to be had most if not all of US youth soccer is moving to SY, all of your captulating on the internet will not stop that.

If you think they changed the age cutoff to create a smaller time period for an age group, no one can help you.
