Yes, but frequent use of neologisms and place fillers is not. PP, many people with medical and/or specialized training in geriatric issues have written extensively on this topic. It’s out there and easy to find — if you really want to look. A lot of it dates from before the election— as these professionals hoped that voters would value their expertise enough to seriously consider what they observed and what they had to say.

Why are you so invested in this? Dementia is not curable. It’s a terrible disease. But unfortunately it affects millions of Americans and becomes more like after 80. Trump is clearly unwell. And psychiatrists attribute it to dementia.

You can't diagnose someone from TV. It's as simple as that.

Well we also have the assessment of his neice, who has known him her own life. She is a psychologist.

Yeah, he has a lot of workarounds like that, plus lots of stock repetitions — Which are better than the neologisms— and show that he’s at least aware of his deficits and trying to compensate. I’m not saying that this is good — just that it’s better than if he couldn’t do these things.

My mom, who had Alzheimer's, also did this in the early stages. It just struck me because it reminded of what she used to do - she was quite aware of what was going on and was good at covering her deficits.

In February he said "supply change" instead of supply chains and didn't catch his error. There was a time I would have felt for trump. It must be very frightening to lose your words. He knows things are not right. But at this point I have no sympathy for him at all. He needs to step down.

“TV”? You do get that Trump is a very public person, right? Rallies, speeches, and the like, right? Also, the professionals who have spoken out freely acknowledge that they have not had the opportunity to assess Trump in ways that would allow them to make a formal diagnosis— but have enough knowledge of his very public behavior to register concern. That Trump — unlike every other recent president— has refused to release his medical records, suggesting that he might share their concerns. (See his inordinate pride at “passing” that memory / word retrieval test a few years back.). PP, you’re “simple as that” is akin to watching someone get shot and repeatedly maintains that you have absolutely no idea why they are bleeding. Technically that would be true. Practically, though, that’s pretty stupid. Either you didn’t read the links that people posted, you didn’t understand what you read, or you’re invested in having and supporting a seriously impaired person as the POTUS.

Where's the "misbehavior"? The APA said they were conducting "armchair psychiatry" and invoked the "Goldwater Rule" but the authors feel that they have a professional responsibility to educate the public about the state of Trump's mental health. That's a difference in opinion, not misbehavior. Did you even read the document you cited?

Where's the "misbehavior"?
