I have mixed feelings. DC is in at Michigan, but was going to feel pressure to go to UvA. I think Michigan wins in every category, but tuition and maybe weather. DC never lived UVA, but applied bc it made sense. Am I bummed, relieved or both?
From your comments you sound relieved. Accepted OOS at Michigan and deferred in state UVA…goes to show you just how hard it is to get in at UVA. Coveted acceptances for those who really know and appreciate the school.
opposite here. OOS accept to Virginia, oos deferral to Michigan, oos rejection to UNC.

It's all good news as your DC can move forward on their college journey! My DD has made the decision that a deferral means she will go where she's been accepted and is excited about that! She will not be waiting for the next round. Congrats to all the new Hoos!
Michigan is fantastic. She can move ahead with it as her top choice and if Virginia comes through, she can re-evaluate. Congratulations on Michigan!
+1. In-state VA friend was waiisted at UVA but in at Michigan. She was a week into classes at Michigan when she was admitted to UVA. She packed up and went to UVA and never looked back (and her parents were thrilled with in-state tuition.
+ 1. There are so many holes in this story.
The parents were excited about in state tuition but also clearly signed a contract to pay the first year OOS at Michigan? And the slot was still available at uva?
It’s definitely a fake story from a UVA booster.
