Most of us aren't going anywhere, and we aren't going to fight for the rights of MAGAs anymore. It is what it is. Hope they are happy.

Since this is a DC based board I assume many of you, like me, understand and have concerns about the democratic norms he upends and the disruption he brings and you do not take our system of government for granted. But at this point it seems the American people - or about half of them - want this disruption.

My state of mind is to focus on what is right in front of me - family, friends and local community. I will watch with detached interest what public administration reforms, to put it lightly, these next 4 years will bring. What I won't do is freak out, get upset, or worry about every outrageous thing he says or does because in a way that is what drives his power. Plus, I don't want to.

Thoughts?

Don’t care

Do care that you become and informed, productive citizen. Otherwise why be here, relocate to another country .

DP. Our nation and the wider world have a lot of problems and the US electorate chose someone who has no understanding of them and no solutions. Worse still, he’ll create more new problems that won’t be fixed easily by the next administration. I’m looking away.

I have vigilance/outrage fatigue. I’m not paying attention to Trump. This website and Instagram are all I’m visiting, and on Instagram I just look at cute dogs. I have not consumed any news (broadcast or print) since election night. I’m done.

I thought I’d be devastated emotionally if Trump won. I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I don’t really feel anything. I’ve checked out emotionally. I’m uninformed about what he’s doing right now and I don’t feel bad about it.

I don’t have citizenship in any other country and no real way to obtain gainful employment elsewhere, so I’m not going anywhere.

Over half the electorate just showed they don’t care to do these things. Whose going to make them? You? Anonymous internet tough guy?

Don’t care to do what things? With whom? How?

Unclear what you’re talking about.

I mainly look at and voted based on issues such as the economy, immigration, k-12 failures, crime, geopolitics/ national security.

I also judge things by the Show Me; Don’t Tell Me mantra. Talk is cheap. Esp from politicians.

I think the *headspace* is to acknowledge that we don't have control of this nationally, and to just be okay with that. No point in doing otherwise.

The plan is to keep voting as appropriate, do what we can in a more controlled local space, and to take care of ourselves and those close to us. Really, it's about not getting worked up about things, because that doesn't help anyway. Plus, natural consequences are a thing, and the mandate from the public at large is for the Democratic Party not to interfere. So, given there isn't anythign we could really do, best to make the best of it.

Nah, this particular autocrat wants us at an 11 of anxiety and outrage all the time. It feeds him.

When we all know what will really happen is that you will wake up in the middle of every night, sweaty and terrified that the next mean tweet might be about to emerge.

I’m wondering if the mean tweets are going to backfire. I’m seeing a lot from non-political Dems getting fired up. 2017 was marching, 2025 will be organizing.

I have disengaged from any environment where I would see a “tweet” Isn’t it not even called that anymore? Shouldn’t they be twXts or something?

Mean tweets = disgusting stuff he says
No need for Twitter, reported ad nauseum in the news

This would be true if we cared about you or society at large, but we no longer do. I don't care about mean tweets, him stipping your medicaid, medicare, Obamacare, social security, blowing up taxes... among the other vile things he will inevitably do. I'll be just fine. Good luck to you.

Yep. Enjoy paying your own bypass after they do away with pre-existing condition safeguards and for all the unauthorized charges on your credit cards when banks can do whatever they want.

You have no idea what you’re in for.

No, they really don't.
